Pull Up a Chair

If you found your way here, I'm really glad you did.

Pull up a chair. Pour yourself a cup of coffee... or tea if that's more your style. There is no rush here. This isn't a place where everything is perfect. Quite the opposite.

You'll find recipes that were made with flour on the counter and dishes in the sink. Stories that weren't polished before they were shared. Adventures that didn't always go according to plan. Recipes and stories that sometimes teach us patience. Animals that have somehow become family. And the quiet moments in between that are so easy to miss if we're always hurrying toward the next thing.

A little while ago, my husband and I packed up our lives and moved across the country to Tennessee to begin again and to find a different way of life then the one we knew in California. We found a home and opened a small brick-and-mortar business that's still finding its footing. Some days we feel like we know exactly what we're doing. Other days we're figuring it out one step at a time.

Maybe that's why this place exists. Not because we've arrived but because we're still becoming.

The Grounded Life is my journal. It's where I'll share homemade recipes, little victories, mistakes that made me laugh later, photographs of ordinary moments that somehow became extraordinary, children’s stories I’ve written and reminders that a meaningful life isn't built all at once.

It's built one loaf of bread.
One walk through the woods.
One conversation.
One hard lesson.
One grateful morning at a time.

If anything here encourages you to slow down, make something with your hands, love the people around you a little deeper, or simply notice the beauty in an ordinary Tuesday... then this little corner of the internet has done exactly what I hoped it would.

So welcome. There's always room for one more at the table.
